Our Presenters
Jon Baty, Head of Inward Investment, West Midlands Growth Company
Jon oversees the Growth Company’s Inward Investment division, leading a team of sector-focused experts who promote the region and facilitate corporate investment, aligned to the West Midlands’ key priority sectors. He also leads the delivery of the Inward Investment workstream of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Business & Tourism Programme – tasked with leveraging the profile of the Commonwealth Games to build global connections and drive job-creating FDI into the West Midlands region.
Jon joined the Growth Company in 2018, initially as Sector Lead for Business, Professional, and Financial Services. In his time with WMGC, Jon has facilitated major investments into the region from major multinationals (including Goldman Sachs, BT Plc) and overseen the region’s engagement with the UK Government’s Places for Growth programme, resulting in the relocation of significant Government operations to the region, including a number of Departments and Agencies responsible for national Housing, Communities and Transport policy and delivery.
Prior to joining WMGC, Jon held a number of business development and consultancy roles at Gateley Plc, Grant Thornton, and Barclays Bank. Jon graduated top of his MBA class from Birmingham Business School and holds a BA from Durham University.
